Initially I had linked this illegitimate birth to Margaret Wilkie - Rae born abt 1844, who was also an illegitimate child of Margaret Wilkie born 1823 who married Geo Rae in 1849
However further research has revealed that a Margaret Condie or Condil, died August 7th 1861 at Mawcarse, Orwell, Kinross, who mother is named as Margaret Wilkie, and death registered by Uncle Charles Wilkie - (brother to Margaret Wilkie b 1823 who Married Geo Rae) which I believe could be Margaret Wilkie born 1844, thus if deceased, couldn't give birth to another Margaret Rae b 1865 hw.Family/Spouse: Unknown. Christian (Paul) Wilkie's death left all of her children parentless, and I believe none of them were married at the time of her death. Her youngest Child, David Johnston Wilkie would be approximately 8 years old. At this time, I have no idea where David went for care and loving - 8 years old seems young even in these times to be on your own.

It seems that Christian Paul's birth has occurred prior to the 'official' marriage date given in Parish records as Jan 31 1788 or 6 July 1788, thus explains why her birth not found on IGI or other sources, except the Old Parish Records and altho many other sources indicate this is probably our Christian Paul, I cannot state this as absolutely FactNotes:

I am presuming for the time being a probability exists these may be the parents of my G G Great Grandfather Robert Wilkie. My reasons being that the dates jive and the naming pattern is familiar. Further descendants used the names of Dewar as a middle name for one of the children, suggesting that John Wilkie & Margaret Dewar may also be connected as poss. parents. Further research required to truly verify as fact however.
As of January 2011, many Wilkie researchers are still clinging to this strong probability - that John Wilkie & Janet Stevenson are indeed the Parents of Robert Wilkie married to Christian Paul,
Isabel Ann Wilkie married to James William Dick
John Wilkie & Christian Ross , then Helen Main
William Wilkie & Henrietta Aiken Philp
The sources being used are Old Parish Records, Aberdour Parish; IGI, various individual birth, marriage, death records kept by various family descendants and family stories or legends HW
However going back from John Wilkie married to Janet Stevenson, the possibilities and probabilities are many - some researchers choosing John Wilkie & Margaret Dewar, others William Wilkie & Margaret Donaldson !!! On and on goes the puzzle HWJohn married Janet Stevenson on 13 Oct 1769 in Dalgetty, Fife, Scotland.
