Robert Wilkie, aged 71*, at 87 Park Street, Alva, in the Parish of Alva, on 30 December 1916, Cattleman retired, Widower of Janet Adamson, parents unknown, usual residence 5 Midtown, Menstrie. Cause of Death - Infirmity of Age, Bruise of Face (Accidental), the Informant Alexander Anderson, Interim Inspector of the Poor, Alva.
* Note - Bob and I wonder if the age should be 81, based on the above Census data. Altho the parents aren't named, strong probability this is our Robert Wilkie because of his wifes' name, Robert had been residing in Clackmannanshire between 1881 and 1901 censuses - so several years.
There may not have been a family to this couple , as no children mentioned on either of the census forms, nor this death certificate.

" May 11, 1816 - Born to Robert Wilkie & Christian Paul, his spouse, a son, Baptized 2nd June, named Charles"
Have attempted to use ScotlandsPeople site to find a marriage of Charles & Agnes (Paton) Wilkie as well as the 1841 census. Tried finding them via children's names too and again, nothing came up that was their family. perhaps the 1841 census where they were residing is one of many that perished as these were being transported to New Registry House. Further to this note - found in Dunfermline Library, June 2015, Scotland Births 1840 an entry
Wilkie: Charles Wilkie and his Wife Agnes Paton had a daughter born on the 11 of May and baptized on the 9 of Augt - Named Margaret Dewar - another note stated baptism took place Kinghorn

Christian (Paul) Wilkie's death left all of her children parentless, and I believe none of them were married at the time of her death. Her youngest Child, David Johnston Wilkie would be approximately 8 years old. At this time, I have no idea where David went for care and loving - 8 years old seems young even in these times to be on your own.

It seems that Christian Paul's birth has occurred prior to the 'official' marriage date given in Parish records as Jan 31 1788 or 6 July 1788, thus explains why her birth not found on IGI or other sources, except the Old Parish Records and altho many other sources indicate this is probably our Christian Paul, I cannot state this as absolutely FactNotes:

I am presuming for the time being a probability exists these may be the parents of my G G Great Grandfather Robert Wilkie. My reasons being that the dates jive and the naming pattern is familiar. Further descendants used the names of Dewar as a middle name for one of the children, suggesting that John Wilkie & Margaret Dewar may also be connected as poss. parents. Further research required to truly verify as fact however.
As of January 2011, many Wilkie researchers are still clinging to this strong probability - that John Wilkie & Janet Stevenson are indeed the Parents of Robert Wilkie married to Christian Paul,
Isabel Ann Wilkie married to James William Dick
John Wilkie & Christian Ross , then Helen Main
William Wilkie & Henrietta Aiken Philp
