C.R. Caseley

Notes:

A lifetime resident of Coronation, and Veteran area, AB. He was always known to his family and friends as "Vic". In 1927, Victor and Lucy Ley were united in marriage. To this union was born three sons and two daughters. He farmed in the Veteran area until 1959 when he moved to Coronation and was employed at the Alberta Liquor Board 15 years until his retirement in 1973. In 1975 his wife Lucy passed away;. On April 9, 1977 he remarried to Adeline Courturier.

Fishing, goose hunting, curling and in later years camping were favorite sports for Vic. He also played softball for many years with the Harts Ball team. Being an ardent gardener and card player brought many pleasant times for him. A daily visit to the Golden Age Club supplied much enjoyment during his retirement. He dearly loved to challenge the other seniors to pool.

Born in Somerset, England on June 3, 1903, Lucy moved to Canada with her family to a homestead SW of Veteran, AB in 1911. She was united in marriage to Victor Caseley in 1927. To this union was born 3 sons and 2 daughters. She has resided in the Veteran and Coronation areas all her life.
She is survived by her husband Victor, sons Robert, Avery and Jack and daughters Shirley and Crystal as well as 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and a brother William.

George's mother died in 1890 of Cancer of the womb in Kilmington, Somerset at the young age of 48. She is buried at St. Mary's Church in Kilmington, (no headstone). After Maria died, the family splintered in three directions; The older grown-up children (George included) either went to Bournemouth in Hampshire on the South coast of England or in the case of George's older brothers William Henry and Edwin, they moved up north to Derbyshire working on the railways. In William Henry's case he had just gout out of the army (he served in India) and was bought out of the army by the family.
