One Birth notice is as follows from my cousin Laura Stenhouse
Extract from OPR
"Ann, Daughter to William Brown and Magdalene Butters, born May 1st 1839 and baptised Kinneston."
Data from a Linda states Ann was born in Orwell, Kinross, Scotland
Ann is on the Scottish Church Records as christened in 1839 to Parents William Brown and Magdalene Buttars. On Anne's marriage certificate in 1966, her parents are listed as William Brown and Mary Wanton, with Magdalene Buttars as witness !!!!
Since Mary and Anne Brown's marriage certificates state their Mother as Mary Brown, ms Wanton, it looked as if William and Mary Wantan had been married, even though no marriage registration can be found. There is also no marriage registration for William Brown and Magdalene Buttars.
On the 1841 census in Portmoak, William Brown and Magdalene Buttars are living with Children Anne and William. Mary Wanton / Winton is in Orwell living with her Mother and Sister, and daugher Mary Brown. It is not clear which set of parents belong to Ann, The only thing I can think of is she is Mary Wanton's daughter who gave her up to her father, William Brown, since she already had one illegitimate child - Linda Nov 2003

*** I believe there is an error in this record, as William Brown and Magdalen Butters were married in 1842, she predeceased him in 1891, there is an error mess in margin of record but unable to read the scrawl, thus it is poss. the name Mary Wanton is meant to be a Witness. as no mention of M. S. for either woman. HW May 2004Children:
