    Mary Ann and Fred Smart's children all emigrated to Australia, as did Mary Ann (Wilkie) Smart after her husband Fred's death.

    Apparently Henry John Wilkie (1907-1981) and his Sister Mary Ann were never close, often had 'differences'; more so when their Father Andrew Wilkie died.

    Joined military service 19 April 1916 - Royal Highland - Royal Field Artillery. Rank was Pte, Gunner, #157239
    Was eventually returned to Reserve as severe excema to his feet - causing ill health; was hospitalized for this condition, didn't seem to respond well to various forms of treatment. Eventually was given a job at Munitions factory - Dundee (Townsend Factory. Andrew had many forms to complete as he didn't seek any disability pension for this condition

    Andrew's military file gave a description of him - height 5'4"; has scar on Right cheek, scar on left cheek - leg coldburns**
