  Obituary: Martha Klaus was born on January 26, 1918 at Castor, AB. She attended Rosetta School and was later employed by both the Seth and Brown families. She married John Klaus on April 4, 1940 and they began their married life together on a rented farm North of Castor. In 1943 they bought a farm 6 miles East of Castor, where they farmed unti 1969, when they moved into Castor. They still continued farming with their son Gordon, and his wife Sandi. In 2000 Martha became a resident of Paintearth Lodge. Mrs Martha Klaus passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2004 in Our Lady of Rosary Hospital, Castor, AB Martha will truly be missed by family and friends alike. The family would like to invite you to reflect on and share your memories as we celebrate the long and cherished life of Martha. Martha is survived by her loving family;, sons Gordon (Sandi) Klaus of Castor, Robert (CHristine) Klaus of Kelowna, B.C., Daughter Marilyn (Barry) Thomson of Red Deer, 7 grandchildren Jason Klaus of Castor, Monica Klaus of Stettler, Nicole Thomson of Calgary, and Matthew Tomson of Red Deer, Allan Slemp, Kelly (Clyde)Robinson, and Randy Slemp all of Sherwood Park; 2 step grandchildren Rael and Sheryl of Vancouver, B.C. as well as 7 great grandchildren, brother Alex Engel of Castor, three sisters Elsie Spady of Edmonton, Lily Spady of Castor and Esther (Leslie) Renschler of Castor; and sister in law Lilly Engel of Castor. She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Lydia, husband John Klaus, grand daughter Lisa Klaus, sisters Emily, Emma nad Ida; brothers Jake, Adolph, Reinold, Art, Richard, and Arnold Engel; brothers in law Victor Spady, Harry Spady, Clarence Meyer and Henry Weber, sister in law Jo Engel and nephew Denis Engel.
