This entry is in the household of John Adams, Age 41 Linen Weaver and his Wife Jane, Children Christina , Helen, Thomas & Alexander. The names certainly are similar pattern, thus I believe this to be Edwin Adams who latter married Agnes Wilkie HW 2011

      MAN DROWNED IN THE TAY
Yesterday afternoon Edward Adams, a labourer and ballastman, was drowned in the Tay, near Newburgh. Engaged with three other men loading a ship with sand, on the Nosey Nell sandbank, at the north side of Mugdrum Island, the tide coming up upon them, one of them with Adams left to reach the long dyke running out from the Island, but the latter insisted on crossing a lade running between the sandbank and the dyke, and in doing so sank in a deep part. The two men left behind saw him disappear and ran to the spot, but the body did not come to the surface, and up to a late hour last night, had not been recovered. Adams leaves a wife and large family, all of them being young. **

** At the time of this tragedy, Edwin Adams was survived by his Wife Agnes and 6 children, ages 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3 - a most difficult time for all of them
