  Judy Philips' comments: " I believe that it was this John who was on the census of 3 Mar 1841 at Markinch, Fife, Scotland - a post from the Fife List advises that there was a John Lochty, age 25 (rounded down) at drapers shop in Markinch. John was a merchant in Thornliebank when he died in 1854. He left a will on 13 Jan 1855 at Eastwood, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
