Tillsonburg Liberal Newspaper, Feb. 13, 1902 Obituary The death of the son, Edwin Wilcox Carpenter, comes like a thunderbolt to the poor stricken mother, who is left without a child to comfort her, and to be bereft of both husband and son at one stroke has caused the most profound sympathy for Mrs. Carpenter both in town and the whole district. It is a severe blow to her, as he was an affectionate son. His constitution was not rugged, as he has suffered from asthmatic affections from childhood. Of late he has looked after the undertaking business for his father, and was thoroughly competent for the business. As a young man he took quite an active interest in town affairs, and was connected at times with musical institutions which made him quite popular with many young people. He was born in Tilsonburg on Feb. 3 1877, and has always lived here, and was well known to the public. Last Friday he was around town making arrangements for his father's funeral, and this Friday, at 2:30 p. m., his remains will be carried to their last resting place in the family plot in the town cemetery. Mrs. Carpenter wishes the Liberal to express her heartfelt thanks to the friends for the kindness shown her in her great affliction, and for the many tokens of sympathy and beautiful floral offerings sent to adorn the caskets of her husband and son.
