Notes - Donald inherited the farm from his folks and changed the farm from mixed sustenance farming to a specialized tobacco farm. A nephew Ted (Edgar Basil Rouse) worked here when he was a teenager. His pay was $6.00 + board per day. Ted states how very fond he was of Donald and his wife Irene (Sandham). Irene's Dad was John Sandham - a great guy. Apparently John lied about his age and served in WW1 and lied again and served in WWII.
Don Sandham family lived 1/2 mile South of the home farm where Don and Irene farmed.
This exerpt was written for me by Ted (Edgar Basil Rouse) at Xmas 2002.
