According to the Poor List(1845) the documentation for Elizabeth Wilkie notes she (Elizabeth) had 4 brothers & 2 sisters of which 3 Brothers & one Sister were married and 1 Brother & Sister that were in service. As Elizabeth lived with Isabella & Andrew Arnot in the 1840s, that is one known marriage, Charles probably was married to Agnes Paton re the birth dates of their children, subsequently it appears John was married to Barbara Hay, living in England and William Dick Wilkie was married to Margaret Fraser.

I have found 2 possible marriages for Janet Wilkie, Daughter of Robert Wilkie & Christian Paul.

    a) July 25, 1834, Contracted David Hay, Private Soldier in the 2nd Royal North British Dragoons or Scotch Greys at Present stationed in Piershill Barracks, Edinburgh and Jane Wilkie in this Parish and after regular proclamation on the 27 th currt. Witnesses were David Wilkie & John Wilkie

Argument for this marriage, Jane or Janet did have 2 brothers named David & John, the fact that David's name is first I would think he was the eldest and that isn't the case in Janet's family - John would have been 22 yrs of age and David 8 yrs old - so this leaves me pondering. Referring to the entry of the Poor List in 1845 - I don't know if that info of 4 bros, 2 sisters is accurate. Another source (IGI) states Jane's Father as David Wilkie, in which case would not be 'our Janet Wilkie' dtr of Robert Wilkie & Christian Paul

    b) July 26th, Contracted to William Deans, Labourer and Janet Wilkie, both of this Parish and after regular proclamation on the 27th currt were married on 1st August by Rev Wm. Dalziel, Dunfermline. Witness was Hugh Blaik. The witness Hugh Blaik is unknown to me, but Janet sounds more like our family rather than the previous case of Jane.

    Death
This entry is followed by another entry in the OPR 401/3 Deaths naming Janet Wilkie, age 22 died 23 December 1834, Wife of Wm Deans, Labourer Burnbrae. Janet was interred on 26th currt in Old Church Yard. Janet Wilkie's Father - Robert Wilkie was Farm Servant, at Burnsbrae and he died there in 1831, her Mother died there in 1834, thus seems likely Janet may have been employed here as well. This seems a closer match, but at this point I don't know where else I might find further proof to say this Janet's parents were Robert Wilkie & Christian Paul. The age is correct tho.

I continue (December 2010) to look for another Janet Wilkie, none has surfaced with any other researchers as well, so again, I am taking an educated guess at this point to say she did marry Wm Deans and subsequently died a few months later in December.
