    In 1861 he is a Scholar, attending the Kennington Law (Licensed Victuallers' School), Lambeth, Surrey, England.
    This school was established in 1803 by the Licensed Trade Charity. - this charity aimed to provide a caring and challenging education for the children of those working in the licensed drinks trade. As industrialisation increased and London spread outward, the school moved to another green field site in Slough in 1921, and when history repeated itself, the school moved again in the late 1980s to Ascot in Berkshire.


    I do not know at which time he departed England for Australia, but it is known that his Uncle William Dick Wilkie born Scotland, came to England after 1871, then onto New Zealand about 1881 or 1885.

    Whereas the said deceased died at Marrickville on the tenth day of August 1933, leaving a will dated the nineteenth day of May 1927, and property the gross value of which, as estimated by the Public Trustee, does not now exceed £400, and no person has obtained probate of such Will. After due inquiries by Public Trustee, it is believed that the document annexed hereto and marked "A" is the said testator's last Will, Given under hand and seal on the twentyseventh day of September 1933.     On this 18th day of August 1933, (name of Deponent) Norman Kennedy Macnicol of 10 Tunks Street Waverton in the State of New South Wales, Occupation Business Systems being duly sworn, makes oath and says: 1) The Said William Dick Wilkie departed this life at Marrickville on or about the tenth of August 1933, 2) I knew and was well acquainted with the abovenamed deceased in his lifetime, and saw his dead body before burial, on the 11 day of August 1933, 3) I am not interested in the Estate of the said deceased.

    In the Will of William Dick Wilkie, late of North Sydney in the State of New South Wales, Retired Compostior, deceased;
    On the 15th day of August 1933, Elizabeth Louisa Coulter, in the State of New South Wales, 14 Tunks St, Waverton being duly sworn makes oath and says as follows - Divorced, married Woman;
    1)The document hereunto annexed and marked with the letter "A" purporting to be the last Will and Testament of the above named William Dick Wilkie, late of North Sydney, was duly executed by the said William Dick Wilkie in his lifetime by signing his name at the foot as the same now appears - is his last Will and Testament on the 19th day of May 1927 in the presence of myself this Deponent and Edward Klein, present at the said time
    2)That the signatures Elizabeth Coulter and Edward Klein subscribed as witnesses to the said Will are respectively of the proper handwritings of myself the Deponent and of the said Edward Klein.
    3)The contents of the abovenamed Will were read and out to the abovenamed deceased and he was in full possession of his senses. His signature was feeble looking for some years and I feel sure that he knew what he was doing when he signed the will. Signed E. Coulter, Sydney before W. Lyons JP

    This is the Last Will and testament of me, William Dick Wilkie of Willesden, 12 Tunks Street, Bayroad, North Sydney, New South Wales.
    I appoint the Public Trustee of New South Wales to be Executor of this my Will, all my just Debts and Funeral and Testamentary expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. And that a headstone and kerbing be erected at my grave at a cost not exceeding twenty pounds £20.

    I give and bequeath to:
    1)Robert David Farnham of Bay Road, North Sydney in the state of New South Wales, the option of purchase of my property known as "Willesden Number twelve" Tunks Street Bayroad in the state aforesaid for the sum of two hundred pounds (£200.) Such option to be exercised within six months of my decease. If the option is not exercised within the time of six months of my decease, the said property within twelve months of my decease to be sold.
    2)I give to my neice Barbara McGregor one hundred pounds £100.
    3)I give to my grand Nephew William Dick Wilkie McGregor my gold watch and chain
    4)I give to my grand Nephew Robert McGregor ten pounds £10. to buy a keepsake.
    5)I give to Mrs Mary Ann Farnham of Bayroad, North Sydney - twenty pounds £20.
    6)I give to William Michael Fox of the New South Wales Government Printing office ten pounds £10
    7)I give to Frank Dixon of the New South Wales Government Printing office ten pounds £10.
    8)I give to Joseph Ramage of the New South Wales Government Printing office ten pounds £10.
    9)I give to Thomas J. Houghton of Artarmon North Sydney ten pounds £10
    10)I give to my neice Barbara McGregor the rest and residue of my estate - should she predecease me , her interests under this will are to be transferred to her husband Robert McGregor of 97 Roxburgh Street, Greenoch, Scotland

    I have searched the findmypast site looking for further data on 1871, 1881, 1891 etc censuses for William Dick - son of John & Barbara Wilkie but cannot find him anywhere, even tried various locations, spellings etc. HW Jan 2011
