    MORLEY ORRIN PALEN
    At the Woodstock General Hospital on Monday, October 11, 2004 Morely Orrin Palen of R. R. #7 Tillsonburg at the age of 72 years. Lifelong resident of Tillsonburg, son of the late Roy Palen and the late former Ila (Becker) Palen. Much loved husband and best friend of 51 years of Helen (McAuley) Palen. Much loved father and father-in-law of: Ted Palen of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; John Palen and his wife Wendy; Mary Gosso and her husband Perry and Theresa Palen, all of Tillsonburg. Proud grandfather of six grandchildren. Dear brother of : Freda Kelly of Vineland (and her late husband Reg.), Ruby and her husband Bert Piers of Strathory, Lorna McMillan of Tillsonburg (and her late husband Jim) and Murray Palen of Tillsonburg ( and his late wife Janice). Survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a much lvoed son James Palen (1987), a sister Vera Neller, and two brothers Mervin Palen, Earl Palen. Morley Palen was former Post Master (Tillsonburg, Delhi, Ingersoll) and former Area Manager of Canada Post, member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 153, Tillsonburg. Morley played and umpired baseball throughout the area. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Friends and relatives are welcome to meet with the family on Thursday 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p. m. at the Verhoeve Funeral Home, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. In keeping with Morley's expressed wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 51 Venison St. W. by Rev. Father Michael Langan. Inurnment to follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations (by cheque) to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Dialysis Fund or the Diabetic Association can be arranged at the Verhoeve Funeral Home, Tillsonburg.

    Morley married Helen Anne McAuley in 1953. Helen (daughter of E. McAuley and F. McMillan) was born on 15 Nov 1932 in Rama Twp, , Ontario, Canada; died on 18 Sep 2007 in Tillsonburg, Dereham Twp, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 21 Sep 2007 in Tillsonburg Cemetery, Tillsonburg, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. Born in Tillsonburg, March 6 1959. Lifelong resident of Tillsonburg. Dear Daughter of the late Morley Orrin Palen and the former late Helen Anne McAuley. Loving Sister of Ted Palen, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, John (Wendy) Palen, Tillsonbur; Mary (Perry) Gosso, Tillsonburg. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a Brother, Private James Palen (1987). In keeping with Theresa's expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, July 23 2008 at 1 pm in the Verhoeve Funeral Home Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg, Ontario by Rev. Paul Robinson of Port Rowan mennonite Brethren Church, followed by inurnment at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Edward DeSutter Dialysis Unit or Canadian Diabetes Assoc. Public visitation on Tuesday 7-9 pm at the Verhoeve Funeral Home.
