Golden Wedding at Dunfermline
Mr. & Mrs. John Ferguson, 63 North Inglis Street, Dunfermline, have just celebrated their Golden Wedding, and the occasion was taken by the family and freinds to present the couple with a purse of sovereigns and other gifts. The couple were married on 15th January 1866, and have had three sons and five daughters. There have been twenty-one grandchildren and one great-grandson. Three grandsons and one son-in-law are serving in His Majesty's forces. Mr. Ferguson is a native of Milesmark, where he was born in 1842, and his Wife, whose maiden name was Christina Hooper, was born at Limekilns in 1841. Both are hale and hearty. As ayoung man, Mr. Ferguson was a sergeant in the Fife Militia, and about three years ago he retired from the position of manager of the Dunfermline Co-operative Society's Coal Department in North Inglis Street. A position which he had held for thirty years. As a hobby, Mr Ferguson went in for poultry breeding, and in this connection, was well known throughout the district.
