  Notes from Annie (Arnot) Gilbert regarding her Mother Annie Cowan "Family history of Ann Cowan by her daughter, Annie Gilbert; Ann Cowan born Aug 10 1849 in Forfar, Forfarshire, Scotland; second Daughter to John & Margaret Cowan. There were five children in the family: Margaret, Ann, Eliza, Willie & John. The Father owned and operated a grocery store. He was a thrifty Scot, and had a nice business. One morning he left home to go to the store but he never reach (ed) his destination. He disappeared entirely. No trace of his whereabouts was ever found. No one ever knew what happened to him"....
