G. Burk, Mar 14, 1900 Ethel Haley is not recorded on the 1901 nor the 1911 census, living with her parents William Alonzo and Priscilla Haley. Other Haley researchers have mentioned that certain members of William Alonzo Haley's family were adopted - so whether this is the case with Ethel, I have not been able to verfiy this. A marriage was given to me by I. Hoper, Haley researcher, so again that info not verified, included here just as name to look for as I continue my research. Notes for Ethel (Haley) Van Doorn - from Martinus Van Doorn Family Genealogy - D. Jean Sinclair Van Doorn "Mra Van Doorn Passes Away" The death occurred early this morning at the Public General Hospital of Mrs Ethel (Haley) Van Doorn, beloved wife of Martinus Van Doorn of Charing Cross. Mrs Van Doorn entered the hospital two weeks ago where she underwent a surgical operation and since that time she has been critically ill. Her sudden and untimely passing comes as a severe blow to her family and many friends by whom she was loved and admired. She was born at Ouvry, Ontario 39 yrs ago, but spent most of her life at Dungannon, Ontario where she lived with Mr & Mrs Arthur Culbert. It was there she received her education and 13 years ago was married to Martin Van Doorn. The couple have since resided at Charing Cross. Mrs Van Doorn was highly esteemed in the community where she was active in many enterprises. She was a member of the Women's Institute, the Home and School Club and of the Charing Cross United Church. Surviving besides her sorrowing husband are four children, Douglas 11, Harry 10, Helen 8 and Kenneth 6, her mother Mrs J. Cross of Wallaceburg, four sisters Mabel of California, Mrs J. West of Meaford, Alice of Windsor and Beatrice Haley R. N. of this city. The remains are resting at the Needham Memorial Chapter where funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 9 at 2 p. m. by Reverend W. J. Button of the Charing Cross United Church.
